To Whom It May Concern,
On April 23 I was tested for Covid-19 at an urgent care clinic in Manhattan. I am a 67 year old man with COPD, and I presented with flu-like symptoms of on-and-off mild fever, sweats, chills, sore throat, joint pain, a painful non-productive cough, and past nausea and diarrhea.
The doctor prescribed me doxycycline and gave me a chest Xray which was negative for pneumonia. While waiting a few days for the results (which eventually came back positive for Covid 19), my symptoms got worse. I was unable to get a call back from the doctor I saw; another doctor I spoke with at this clinic was uninterested in changing my RX.
I contacted Dr. Zelenko, he reviewed my positive test result and Xray (and the then-brief Excel log I was keeping of my vitals and symptoms, and he prescribed hydroxychloroquine and a Symbacort inhaler to be taken concurrently with the originally prescribed doxycycline.
Most of my symptoms stayed steady for 48 hours, but the cough got worse, and after the 3rd televideo “exam”, Dr. Zelenko referred me for a cat scan of my chest to rule out any pulmonary embolism.
I had this performed at a local ER; it came back negative for blood clots, and the visit also gave Dr. Zelenko detailed lab and scan reports reconfirming the covid- 19 infection.
24 hours later, my cough diminished to near zero; 2 days later I had (and still have) no fever or chills/sweats. I still have some tiredness on exertion, I but have had no fever, chills, sweats, headache or other symptoms for the past 4 days.
I am convinced and very grateful for Dr. Zelenko and his treatment. IMHO he may have saved my life prescribing the hydroxychloroquine and the Symbacort on top of the doxycycline. While I was in the ER for 6 hours prepping for the CT scan, I saw numerous people my age being wheeled in on 02.
Only G-d knows how many of them left.
Without Dr. Zelenko’s treatment one of those people could have been me.
